Authentic Music Review is an English-language publication for curious listeners. It explores how songs are shaped by words, melody, arrangement and recorded sound, with room for close attention as well as the pleasure of listening.

What we follow

Our pages look at song structures, lyrical choices, musical textures and the ways parts of a recording work together. We favour subjects that remain worth considering beyond a particular release or season.

Who may enjoy it

The publication is for anyone who likes to listen with curiosity, whether music is a longstanding interest or a pleasure newly explored. You need no specialist vocabulary: we explain terms when they help, and leave them aside when they do not.

A listening-first approach

We ask what can be noticed in the music and how a creative choice affects the whole. Our writing aims to be clear about interpretation, careful with factual claims and generous toward different ways of hearing a song.
